Bombardia
Bombardia is a grid bomb arcade in the spirit of the 90s classics — with its own country, its own heroes and a map that blew up.
At the Festival of the Great Map, the Blast Guild's showpiece salute went off a little too well. The map tore to pieces, and Bombardia fell apart with it. Now six proud professionals of demolition have to blast their way across the land and glue the map back together.
What's in the game now
- Deathmatch — timed rounds on six battlefields (sunny meadow, copper mines and the four parts of an old fort): power-ups from crates, Volt and Bio rune stones that zap or curse whoever wakes them, and a floor that crumbles into lava when time runs out. Play solo against 1–3 bots (three difficulties), or on one screen with 2–4 people: two on one keyboard and/or gamepads, bots in the free seats, matches to 1 / 3 / 5 wins with a rematch — or over your home network: up to 4 players on up to 4 computers (Windows / Linux / macOS builds).
- Classic — a tribute to the 1985 original: 20 stages through four sections of a fort, hidden exits, bonus stages, a victory screen. Two difficulties: Classic (a death restarts the stage) and Relaxed (the field stays as you left it).
- Campaign (in progress) — a comic intro and the first region, the Meadows: hand-painted rooms, Quill the Cartographer Owl as your guide, guild seals that only the right bomb core can open, and the first piece of the Great Map. Then the second chapter begins: Rivet the Sapper Bot takes over in the Copper Mines — cave-ins, firedamp, copper veins and the Heavy core, then the cart level deep below: mine carts pushed by blasts, dynamite, rotten props and chain reactions in dark drifts, and at the bottom the depths: creeping lava, the Guild's old dams, the Remote core that waits for your signal and a wild ride down an underground river to the second piece of the Map. Bomb cores are keys: the Guild's journal shows every recipe you can build, the rules and the creatures you met.
- The third chapter has begun: Lumen the Lamplighter carries the light to the Glacier's foot — ice you slide on, lake ice your fire melts, ice blocks that plug burrows and sink into bridges, and lamps to rest by.
Six heroes: Digger the Mole, Rivet the Sapper Bot, Vial the Alchemist, Lumen the Lamplighter, Quill the Cartographer Owl and Granny Fuse. English and Ukrainian.
Controls: arrows / WASD — move · Space — bomb · Q — next bomb, Tab — the bomb journal (campaign) · X — detonator (Classic, the Remote core in the campaign) · Esc — pause · Alt+Enter — fullscreen. On one screen: WASD + Space and arrows + Enter (changeable in Settings → Controls). Gamepads supported.
The game is in active development — the campaign grows region by region. It's free, pay what you want if you like it. Tell us in the comments where you got stuck or what you'd like to see — that's the whole point of this early build.
